Hi
,
Last week, I described briefly, in very simple terms, how the immune system was explained to me by the nurse involved with my blood plasma donations. Essentially, a "scout" discovers "invading aliens" (like the Chinese COVID-19 virus) in the blood stream. The invader's make-up is analyzed, and then "soldiers" are mass-produced to specifically target that particular alien.
This whole process can take a bit of time, and before these soldiers can kill off all of the offending aliens in some people, they can become very ill. It's a small percentage that can't ward off the intruder, or at least in time to avoid serious sickness, or even death, but all-in-all, the system works amazingly!
Now, here's the part I was asking her about. Could I catch it again? Her answer was very reassuring, in that it's highly unlikely that I will! HOWEVER, if I should happen to be in a situation in which these same offending Chinese COVID-19 virus particles invade me again, there is something in our systems called "T cells". She told me that these cells essentially keep a blueprint of the
soldiers - even though the initial ones disappear after a while. If I'm invaded again, the system will spot them, and instantly be able to produce new soldiers again based on the blueprint. The net result is that I might not even have any symptoms at all since it will be dealt with rapidly!
When the Bible speaks of us being "fearfully and wonderfully made", it means just that! - on a huge number of levels!
