I'm struck each time I read through the Old Testament scriptures how often and quickly the nation of Israel abandoned the truth of God's Word and succumbed to the false teachings of the people around them, which centered on the worship of totally worthless things
called idols. And, as they did so, they became "fools". Look at what these verses say...
"The idols of the nations are silver and gold, the work of men's hands. They have mouths, but they do not speak; Eyes they have, but they do not see; They have ears, but they do not hear; Nor is there any breath in their mouths. Those who make them are like
them; So is everyone who trusts in them." (Psalm 135:15-18)
The mouths, eyes, ears, and breath were all fake! They have a semblance of the legitimate organs, but the fake ones can provide nothing whatsoever of what the real thing does. But notice that both those who make these idols and those who trust in them are all like them - fake! They have nothing to offer. They cannot be a legitimate help to anyone. They cannot impart any true knowledge.
Man hasn't changed since back then. He still makes idols. Like evolution. Evolution provides no insight, no legitimate science, no answers, no help, no guarantees, and still leaves people with all of the questions. And.... those who teach it are like it!
They claim to have knowledge, understanding, etc., but don't. They, and those who believe it, stumble about, thinking that Darwin has indeed put the pieces of the puzzle together correctly, thinking that morality is their own choice, thinking that the afterlife is what they want it to be....
Idolatry hasn't changed much. The names of the "gods" have.
