Hi ,
Over the years, many people have been duped into believing lies or cheap substitutes for God's truth. These ideas never last, though, but history just seems to repeat itself.
Evolution is just a more modern idea that has held sway over the minds and hearts of men for well over a century regarding origins. It, too, will one day fade into insignificance or irrelevance as all false ideas have. In fact, it is definitely fraying at the seams as many scientists realize the impossibility of the model. Still, it will take some time.
But, this isn't new. The book of Acts records a stark example of a belief system that was held in just as much esteem as many people hold to evolution today. The account is found in chapter 19 -- Many people were coming to Christ in the whole region around Ephesus and the province of Asia through the Apostle Paul's ministry. So, a silversmith named Demetrius (who made silver idols of the goddess, Artemis)) started a riot
because he feared that he and members of his profession would lose their income if more people came to Christ, rather than worshipping the goddess.
However, as the riot peaked, the mayor stopped them by making a quick speech. He pointed out to the crowd that there are courts and lawyers available should they have any complaints. He made the stark point that they would have no excuse or explanation should the Romans charge them for rioting, since demonstrations of that kind were illegal.
But, I love what he used as his basis for calming the crowd. He said in essence, "Doesn't all the world know that Artemis' image fell from heaven..." and also, "Since this fact is undeniable, you ought to do nothing".
Did you catch that? This mayor was saying exactly what we hear the evolutionists saying today about their beliefs -- "All the world knows! Everybody knows that evolution is true!" and "the fact is undeniable!"
By the way, how many people today believe in Artemis? NONE!
The facts that the whole world back then knew to be true -- weren't! The fact of Darwinian evolution that today's world knows to be true -- isn't!
