Hi ,
Lamentations 2:14 says this....
"The visions of your
prophets were false and worthless;
they did not expose your sin to ward off your captivity.
The prophecies they gave you were false and misleading."
This was Jeremiah lamenting over the demise of Jerusalem at the hands of the Babylonians. It's self-explanatory. The people were lied to by their religious leaders. Had the leaders told the truth, the
people might have listened, understood, obeyed, and avoided disaster. A modern-day, similar message could be stated like this...
The imaginations of your evolutionary professors were false and worthless;
They did not expose your true nature to warn you of the reality of
your sin and what it will lead you to.
The teachings and writings they gave you were false and misleading.
In both cases, it's written in the past tense. It was too late for the people in Jeremiah's time. They listened to lies and paid the price! The same is true for this generation - they listen
to lies. One day, it will also be too late!
