Hi ,
This series of events just took place on our Southwest Safari...
When we were loading the bus at Moab, it became apparent that one person in our group (who was with his wife and another couple)
was not doing well. We had to take him to the ER where they admitted him immediately. A pastor from Washington state, who had been on the trip before, volunteered to stay with these folks at the hospital. The plan was this: If it was serious and he had to stay, then all four of the folks would have to quit the trip and make appropriate plans, getting back to PA whenever and however they could. Kevin, the pastor from Washington, would then rent a car, one way, and catch up
with us at Page, AZ. If it wasn't serious, then they would all rent a car and join us at Page. We had already lost 30 minutes from the schedule by the time this was decided, and since it would take at least another hour to determine his actual condition, I made the decision not to wait for that (which would have put us at least 1.5 hours behind schedule). So we prayed and moved on.
We got to Blanding,
where we always stop at the rest area. I got a call from Kevin, the pastor who stayed behind with the two couples, and he said that the sick man had been released!! It was a simple matter of dehydration and altitude!! They were going to join us at Monument Valley!
Now, here is where the miraculous stuff starts. The group back in Moab found out that none of the car companies there allow
one-way rentals! So, they called some local churches, and found one that would help. The secretary volunteered to take them all down to Monument Valley to meet up with us. This was over three hours away. Get this!!---- She had been loading her car for a trip, and it was completely packed, including the trunk. However, the day before, her dog had been sprayed by a skunk, and had then jumped into her car! So, she had to completely empty the car out and
clean it so that there wasn't any smell. So, her car was empty and clean for our group!
BUT, she also has a close friend who is an evolutionist. This lady, Crystal, has been trying to witness to him. So, two days before this, she asked the Lord to send a young-Earth creation scientist to her to help her understand the issues and help her friend! Kevin Lea, the pastor she then rode with for
over three hours, is also a physicist who knows and understands not only the whole creation issue, but is also a long-time close friend of Dr. Brown, who also was on the tour! When they arrived, our entire group got caught up in the celebration. I gave her 6 of our videos to help her from here on. The picture shows the group who came in the car. Kevin is on the left, and Crystal is in the pink sweater holding the DVDs.
Now, the other miraculous thing.... At Blanding, there was a thin lady standing outside the visitor center. As one of our group, Terry Mondy, was walking by her, she asked if he was on a tour of some kind. He described it. She then said, "I think you're just the type of person I need to talk to". She then told him that she's dying of stage four cancer, and is traveling to see what she can of the country. Terry had a
gospel tract with him, and shared the gospel with her right then and there. She cried so hard that large tears were falling on the ground at his feet. Terry told her that eternal life is immediately available through Jesus! AND..... here's the amazing timing issue..... if the sick man had not delayed our departure from Moab, we would have completely missed this lady at Blanding!
