Hi ,
Part of the woefully dubious theory of Darwinian evolution involves, as you know, ape-like creatures turning into mankind. The Bible teaches the opposite. It
states that, in the beginning, man was made in God's image. This would indeed explain why we are curious, inventive, and creative problem-solvers. We've always been that way. I know that. But, I'm still surprised at the amazing things we, as humans, were able to achieve - even long ago.
Take the planet Saturn, for example. While it is visible to the human eye, nothing
specific about it would make it stand out among so many other celestial bodies. Yet, nobody knew how unique Saturn is until 1610, when Galileo discovered the features now known as the rings. At least, that's what the history books teach. Did anyone know anything else about it before him? Consider this...
I was reading recently in the book of Acts at the passage where
Stephen is giving his defense to the Sanhedrin. He mentions a prophetic writing (Amos 5:25-27) which refers to the god, Rephan, one of the false gods the Israelites worshipped in the desert. A bout of curiosity hit me, so I looked up information on this name. Amazingly, Rephan was apparently the god of Saturn! Saturn? Why that planet? Was it even known to be a planet back then? Even though there are
other references to galaxies and star clusters mentioned here and there in the Bible, I know of no other reference to a planet other than Earth. What did they know back then about Saturn? Did they have instruments that allowed them to see more than the naked eye could??! Ecclesiastes 1:9 ("...nothing new under the sun...") might provide an intriguing insight...
I'm really
curious now!
Man, made in God's image! What an amazing God we serve, and what a fascinating history we have!
