Mowing my lawn the other day, I was reminded that, a long time ago, I discovered a simple concept for mowing a straight path across a lawn, especially to get things started ~ Fix your gaze, in the direction to want to mow, on a specific object at the far side of the lawn. Push the mower in that direction without ever taking your eyes off the
object. Once you arrive at it and look back, the line will be almost perfectly straight!
A simple concept to illustrate a simple biblical truth ~ Heb.12:2 says,"...fixing our eyes on Jesus, the author and perfector of our faith", and Ps.16:8 says,"I
have set the Lord always before me". To be sure, mowing a lawn like this won't guarantee that there won't be obsticles in the way, or a hill, or something that might make it difficult. Similarly, fixing our eyes on Jesus doesn't guarantee an easy life, but it will make for an orderly, reasonable, meaningful, beautiful, fruitful one!
