This is not the news I was hoping to hear and share with you today, but here goes...
My brother, John, has been undergoing a different chemo treatment for his cancer since the last one hadn't worked at all. The cancer had grown by a factor of three! The doctors switched to a different one, and were hoping for better results. The scan was last Friday, and we were all on "pins and needles" waiting to hear what the results are. Today, I heard from him. Here is the text he sent:
"UPDATE: Second chemo protocol also ineffective. Cancer still growing. Now discussing a direct liver injection technique. I guess we'll see."
Upon receiving this, I immediately called him and we talked for about 45 minutes. His spirits are good, and the doctors are saying that he seems to be doing well in other categories - his weight is fine, his blood tests are all coming back normal, his appetite is normal, etc.
We are obviously praying that something will work, so to that end, we discussed our plans to film more videos next year, and tentatively are hoping to film at least another four.
I know that many of you are praying and also have involved your friends, families, and churches. PLEASE continue to do so! We are all incredibly grateful!
On an amazing note ~ On the morning of John's scan, I received an e-mail from someone I didn't know. Ho told me that he had heard my dad speak in a church long ago, in 1962, and had prayed for him. He had not thought about my dad since then. But, on Thursday night - almost 60 years later! - he awoke and couldn't sleep, because he had John Snavely on his mind. He felt prompted by God to pray! He
assumed correctly that my dad was already with the Lord, so he thought that the Holy Spirit was prompting him to pray for John Snavely's descendants!! He got up and started researching, and eventually found me through our web site!
What an amazing God we serve!
