But, when we hear the word "evolution" today, we almost always picture Charles Darwin. We think in terms of the word meaning something that he represented. But, that's not always the case.
Very simply, the way in which Darwin used the term is something that has never been observed at all in the world of science and nature. He was proposing that one kind of species of animal or plant can change into another kind of species of animal or plant. This is known as "macroevolution". Macroevolution and Darwinian evolution are one and
the same thing. They are actually impossible, and again, have never been observed. It is only an idea - wishful thinking.
However, another use of the term can mean minor changes, or variations, within kinds of animals or plants. For example, there are many variations of dog kind. There are many variations of pigeon kind. There are many
variations of cat kind. Genetically, there can be small variations within each of these kinds of animals. These minor genetic changes are always within the same kind of animal, and are known as microevolution.
So, just to briefly clear the air...
- Evolution - simply means change, and has legitimate uses.
- Macroevolution (Darwinism) - is not true and has never been observed.
- Microevolution - is true and widely observed, but NOT what Darwin meant!
