Jesus' Statement Regarding the Age of the Earth!

There are so many Christians today who are still confused about the age of the earth. I'm surprised at this since the earth's age is actually not a difficult thing to understand. Genesis 1 makes it very clear that the days of creation were 6, 24-hour rotations of the Earth. Even liberal Hebrew scholars who don't believe the literal account, still insist that the language in the account can only be interpreted as 6 literal days.

That's one issue. The other one is the age of the earth. How long has it been since creation until now? One way to gauge it is to use the biblical patriarchs' lineage, as found in Genesis 5 and 11, and then work the years from those patriarchs forward. It's abundantly clear from this that the Earth is perhaps only up to 7,000 years old.

But, Jesus Himself provided another stark proof of the age of the earth. In Matthew 19:4, Jesus, in answering another question from the pharisees, said, "Have you not read, that he who made them at the beginning made them male and female...?"

Now, think about this! -- The first verse in the Bible says that in the beginning God made the heavens and the earth. The verses then describe what God did over the next days. Six days after creating the earth, He made man. All of His creation was in the beginning, right when God was first making everything.

In any scenario that involves millions or billions of years of the earth's history, man would be placed MUCH more recently. In Christian compromise instances that use this time frame, Adam and Eve have only been here for up to 25,000 years. In secular evolutionary stories, man has only appeared within the last 2-4 million years.

Therefore, in either case, man is a relative newcomer! If the earth is indeed billions of years old, then mankind has only been here for the last .05% - .0006% of the earth's history!

But, consider Jesus' words. He said He made people at the beginning. If the world is billions of years old, then this would mean that He made man billions of years ago. Clearly, even to evolutionists, man has not been around for anywhere near that long! Therefore, if the world is billions of years old, then surely Jesus would have referred to humans appearing MUCH more recently than in the beginning!

Clearly there is a major problem here. It makes much more sense to accept the Bible for what it clearly says, rather than trying to fit man's faulty imaginations into it.
