Many of you have asked for an update regarding my back since the surgery 2 1/2 years ago, and want to know how to pray. Thank you so very much!! These pictures show the location of the titanium fusions that were performed.
We now have a clearer idea about what happened, and why I have to have another major surgery on November 19. Here’s the issue…
The original problem that caused the need for surgery in the first place is gone, thank the Lord. However, since the surgery, I have noticed, as have the medical people involved, that there is something wrong. The pain I have been going through is not normal.
For one thing, I don’t have a proper lumbar curve, so either I tend to bend forward, or my knees bend. I cannot stand straight. This has caused various additional issues that need to be corrected.
Therefore, what the surgeons will do this time is a three-fold step. First, another surgeon will have to come in from the front, remove whatever is in the way so that spine surgeon can perform another fusion below the ones that I have now. Once that is sewn
up, they will turn me over and open up my back and remove everything that you see in these pictures. They will reinstall new hardware and fuse another vertebrae above these. When that is closed up, they’re going to come in from the side and break the bone that has been growing for these 2 1/2 years that has strengthened the titanium. They need to do this in order to insert wedges between my vertebrae to force a proper lumbar curve.
Apparently,
there will be another considerable recuperation time, so I have completely cleared my schedule in December and January. We already have bookings for February, and our spring is starting to fill with churches and conventions.
Thank you SO MUCH for your prayers as we head into this in just over a week!…
