Since the history of the world is viewed from two completely separate perspectives, there are going to be two very different views of what's going on with the planet. The biblical worldview holds no "climate worries"
since what is observed fits easily into the timeframe of the past and the future.
The alternative view is that the earth is billions of years old, and theoretically is going to be around for at least millions of years to come. Therefore, one can get a bit of an idea as to why there is panic over the
supposed issue of "global warming". The opening statements from an article by Realclimate gives their perspective:
"The basic facts about the global increase of CO2 in our atmosphere are clear and established beyond reasonable doubt. (NOTE: Interesting that exactly the same words are used when applied to Darwinian evolution theory.) ...Let’s start with a brief overview of the most important data and facts about the
increase in the carbon dioxide concentration in the atmosphere:
- Since the beginning of industrialization, the CO2 concentration has risen from 280 ppm (the value of the previous millennia of the Holocene (This refers to the geological column - their
"billions-of-years map")) to now 405 ppm.
- This increase by 45 percent (or 125 ppm) is completely caused by humans. (Of course! We're the problem!)
- The CO2 concentration is thus now already higher than it has been for several million years. (This statement now renders this whole perspective as completely suspect, since its starting premise assumes a perspective completely opposite to biblical
history.)
So, back to basics:
- If the Bible is true, there's no need to worry. Climate and/or gas/temperature fluctuations, up or down, are to be expected and have been happening regularly since the
end of the flood. They will continue to the end of time, and God will protect the earth since it's meant for humans to live in. You can't change it. Biblically speaking, there are far worse things to worry about (see Revelation!)
