Remember your Creator in the days of your youth! |
We just returned recently from our African Wildlife Safari. And, while we are always treated to many reminders of God's amazing creative ability, the safari also provides stark reminders that we live in a fallen world, too. We were once again reminded that
part of the Genesis record indicates the curse, and that nature is groaning under that curse!
We see thorns and thistles growing in many places and on many trees. Some are tiny, some medium-sized (like the one that went right through my shoe into my foot!), some huge. We can see the
dangerous sap, called latex, dripping from a euphorbia plant if it's scratched. Ingesting this latex is fatal to virtually every creature. We can see animals hunting and being hunted. We can see death and suffering in nature, and it's all part of the curse.
In the meantime, though, these things do provide fascination and excitement for us to watch, but according to Romans 8, one day the creation will be freed from all of this. Thankfully, the Lord Jesus Himself has already provided, by way of the cross, His death
and resurrection, the way for humans to escape the penalty we incurred as a result of the fall of man. |
