It is important to remember that science has no opinions of its own. It is a tool used for learning. Scientists are credited with amazing discoveries in learning and technology. Their study has changed the world, most often for the good. Additionally,
most scientists are objective about their work, and often will admit mistakes in their attempt to discover truths about the field in which they are endeavoring.
But, there is a dark side to science, or rather, scientists. Scientists are all human, and as such, they are not immune to many of the human conditions of sin, such as pride,
self-righteousness, vanity, greed, jealousy, etc. In any scientific field where there are philosophical and/or religious implications involved, or if a scientist's ideas are challenged and he/she loses face, prestige, or money --- watch out!
Nowhere is this more true than in the field of origins. The Bible teaches that we were
created by God, there are moral absolutes, and that humans are sinners in need of a savior. Evolution teaches that we are random accidents, there are no moral absolutes, and there is no sin for which there must be atonement. Since most scientists, as humans, fall into the latter category, the evolution theory has become the "origins paradigm". Upsetting it, if even possible, will always be an uphill battle.
You and I know that this paradigm is wrong, not only from scripture, but also the observable world around us. The whole modern creation movement has gained great strength through scientific discoveries over the last decades. Evolution theory has come under serious challenge, but is still the paradigm in the secular world, and unfortunately, in sectors of the Christian world, too.
Christians are not immune to this. Christian scientists are also still human, and can suffer the same traits! Continued.....
