Many folks have commented on the three-part series I wrote regarding the "flat Earth" concept. In fact, there have been many people, including several flat-earthers themselves, who have asked me to send this series to them.

Well, now I'm happy to add a fourth e-mail! And, I'm going to provide one more piece of solid evidence (or a test) that will prove the point. This would be "point 11" in the series.

11. The sun at the South Pole!- This first illustration is how a flat-Earther would draw a map of the world. The North Pole is a point at the middle of the mass, and the "South Pole" is not a pole at all, but rather the entire edge of the whole Earth. It forms a sort-of border around the whole thing, a ring of ice.

If the earth is a sphere, then the sun will not set at all at the South Pole for over half the year. It will be visible on the horizon for 24 hours per day. If it's flat, there will always be periods of darkness each day, 365 days per year, as the sun moves to the other side of the plane. The next drawing will illustrate the situation:

The flat Earth theorists claim that as the sun moves around the plane of the earth, it essentially illuminates what's below it. This gives night and day to the whole surface. It would be a fatal blow to the theory if it could be proved that the South Pole experiences sunshine 24/7. Furthermore, it would be inconceivable to them to discover that this happens at the South Pole for more than half the year! This can ONLY happen if the earth is a sphere!

It's not really surprising if members of the non-Christian community would still hold on to this false belief. After all, many, if not most, of them believe the outdated and unscientific theory of Darwinian evolution. However, it's sad indeed that there are still members of the Christian community that refuse to accept this, even in the face of blatant evidence. They claim that somehow there was fraud and deception, even with four of their heroes present and acknowledging what they saw!

My advice to these folks? Stop wasting time on this futile and nonsensical belief, and spend your time in God's Word where you will learn truth. Time is short! The Lord is returning soon! Spend your time wisely...

PS - For those of you who have been telling me that you are praying for my back and asking me how I'm doing, thank you so very much! Well, here's the latest...

Since the surgery two years ago, I have had a lot of pressure and pain when I'm up and around doing things. Something's wrong. Recently, and after another MRI and a CT scan, we had an appointment with the surgeon who told us that, essentially, the fusion will need to be completely redone. Another surgery is required, but it isn't an emergency like the first time. Since our year is so fully booked, we decided to wait until November 19 since the next two months can be cleared for recovery.
They're going to do three surgeries in one -- Starting from the front, they're going to go through my stomach area to perform a certain procedure on my lower spine. When that's sewed up, they're going to turn me over, open up the entire region from the first surgery, and completely remove all of the hardware, and redo it all, adding one more fusion to the top. When that's done, they're going to open me up from the side to perform a series of steps that will actually put the proper curve back in my spine.

This is what's planned, anyway. We're going to try to get a second opinion sometime this spring. Thank you so much for your prayers!
