All of us have seen this chart, or one similar to it. It has made its way into virtually every culture and religious group. But, many books have been written as to why the bones used as evidence for this scenario are wishful thinking at best. But, have you thought of the mathematical implications of this issue? Let me
explain briefly.
We're told that we have evolved for between 2 to 4 million years from an ape-like creature to what we are today. Let's do a very simple math exercise and see if it's remotely reasonable. Imagine that originally there was an ape-like male creature and a female version of it (the source of which is never explained),
that could produce a third creature of its own kind. Now, imagine that, due perhaps to a high infant mortality rate, or lack of food, or wars, etc., that the population only doubles every 1,000 years. That's a RIDICULOUSLY slow rate! Nevertheless, that would mean that after 1,000 years there are 4 of these creatures. Then, after another 1,000 years there would be 8 of them. After another 1,000 years, there are 16, and so on.
Do the math. After just about 50,000 years, there isn't enough room on our entire planet to have all of the creatures standing next to each other and back-to-back, even with all of the oceans drained! Do the math further (if your calculator can even do it!) to just 100,000 years. After this time has elapsed, and at the same rate, there isn't even enough room on all the
celestial bodies visible to the naked eye if you turned them all into "Earths". Think about it. That's only 100,000 years. We're told we've been evolving from an ape-like creature for a minimum of 2,000,000 years! Can you see how ridiculously impossible this is?
That's just the start. Next time, we'll apply the
same simple mathematics to the fossil record and see what's reasonable...
