Hi ,
The goal of every Christian, as we enter heaven at the end of our earthly lives,
should be to hear the 13 words at the central part of Jesus' message found in Matthew 25:21, which are, "Well done, good and faithful servant. Enter into the joy of your Lord".
The goal of Christianity is not just to escape the fires of hell, but to enjoy life and live it in the manner that God wants us to. The essence of the Bible is the
story of God redeeming mankind to Himself. Much of the New Testament is devoted to the instructions to Christians as to how our lives should be lived to God's glory. As such, the Bible is our "instruction manual". It is crucial for Christians to know what's in it if we are to "rightly handle the word of truth" (II Tim. 2:15), and to know how God wants us to live. We can do neither if we are not in it!
Do you read your Bible?
I'm not referring to reading a quick devotional each day, or just taking a Bible to church on Sunday, or joining a "verse of the day" club. I'm talking about
spending quality time in God's Word at least 4 days each week. Statistics tell us that about 4 out of 5 Christians do not read their Bibles! The reasons for this vary. But all of the excuses boil down to basically this: Spending time in God's Word is not a priority.
The results are disastrous! The look of modern day Christianity reflects
this. Christian society often looks virtually no different from the non-Christian sector. Poor theology, selfishness, backward priorities, poor decisions, messed up lives, etc., are all a reflection of not taking God's Word seriously. And usually the first step to this attitude is not being in His Word to begin with.
Please join me in our
commitment to being in God's Word and being a doer, and not a hearer only. I want to remember my Creator and live my life in such a way as to be able to say with the apostle Paul, "I have fought the good fight, I have finished the course, I have kept the faith" (II Tim. 4:7). My ultimate goal is to live my life so that I hear the words, "Well done, good and faithful
servant".
