We see the signs everywhere now. All the kids are headed back to school soon, as are the college students. That's what I wanted to write to you about.
For those of you sending your kids to college, whether it's this year, next year, or later, may I please remind you to be cautious about where they go. If it's a Christian college they're headed to, make sure that you have read their doctrinal statement. It's always wisest to start with their views on creation. If they are weak there, or have compromised any of that message, be aware that there might be compromise in
other areas of their doctrinal statements, too. Diluting God's word often starts with the creation account. The cancer then spreads over the years to other aspects of what the college claims to believe.
This happens in churches, too. Often these compromises are due to an attempt to try to make their church or college more appealing to a
wider array of theological positions. Churches and colleges like to see high numbers of people involved. That's normal. But at what price? Unfortunately, all too often, a solid, biblical stance is compromised in order to keep giving and attendance numbers up. This should never, never happen!
When officials study banknotes to keep
counterfeit money out of the system, they don't study counterfeit notes. They study the real thing. In this way, a counterfeit is recognized. It's the same thing with your children when they go off to a college that has compromised various doctrinal positions. If students are well grounded in God's truth before they go, they will recognize error in the school much quicker.
