Hi ,
How can we evaluate if something is true? Start by considering the source for trustworthiness. Then look at the evidence to see if it supports it.
If evolution is indeed scientific, then it must follow the rules of a science theory. In order for a claim to be verified by the scientific process, the claim must be observable, demonstrable, and repeatable. If it cannot stand up under these tests, it is not science based, but rather, faith based.
So, to evaluate its trustworthiness, we'll consider a few topics:
1. The source of this claim is mankind. As we know, man's ideas are often fallible. Many times they are downright wrong. Therefore at any given
time and with any given claim, there is the danger that an idea proposed by a man might be wrong. Therefore there is no consistent accuracy.
2. Even though evolutionists are unified in their belief that Darwinian evolution has occurred, they often disagree with each other over many aspects of it. However, it's in these details that the theory should find unified continuity. That is not the case at all.
3. Evolution cannot make any predictions of any value that correlate to the real world. Mutations, the main vehicle through which Darwinian evolution supposedly happened, are purely random and therefore cannot be predicted.
4. There have been no fossil discoveries that have verified evolution theory. Even though many fossils have been proposed as proof of a "link", very often the sample is
discredited, and proves not to be the case. Therefore the trustworthiness is greatly diminished.
5. Evolution is claimed to be a science theory because the elements of the theory can be tested in a laboratory. In fact, testing has been done ever since Darwin's book was introduced. No scientific tests have ever verified that mutations produce any increased information on the genetic code. Therefore, confidence is greatly diminished
6. The only way that it can be claimed that evolution changes the lives of people is that it gives them a license, of sorts, to live any way they choose. If they are a result of a series of random accidents, then life really has no meaning or purpose. Furthermore, there are no moral standards. Therefore, the decaying society that we see all around us has been partly contributed to by the teachings of evolution.
Having considered all of this, we can conclude that truth is not something that you have an opinion about. Something is either true, or it is not. You believe it, or reject it. There is no "my truth / your truth".
If you accept evolution as the truth, your only real worry is that you are
hoping against hope that the propagators of the theory are correct about what happens to you when you die!
But if evolution is not true, and the Bible is, then you have every reason to worry about what happens to you when you die! Fortunately, the Bible has provided the answer for this dilemma through Jesus Christ! (John 3:16)
