Hi ,
In their pursuit of their belief that evolution is true and scientific, and that creation is just a religious belief system, many evolutionists like to use terms like these: "Science vs. God", or "Science vs. Creation", etc. They often think that the two terms represent ideas that are completely separate. Their thinking often boils down to this: "Science" has determined the cold, hard truths about history, the world and life, and "religion" helps people cope with that
cold, hard truth.
The real truth, however, is that they themselves have a religious belief that science itself has determined what truth is. It hasn't. It can't! Science has no opinions of its own. Science (and the scientific process) is a tool. Science is the process that people use to try to answer questions or solve problems - but again, it has no opinions! Scientific observation and
testing can lead people down a road to discovery, but it only reveals data. We humans then add interpretation to the data. And very often, bias immediately comes into play during that interpretive process. If a person already believes in evolution or creation (and a global flood), then he/she will interpret the scientific data accordingly.
In the case of evolutionists, since they have already decided that evolution is true, for whatever reason, they have pre-decided that scientific interpretation of evidence for past events, and life itself, leads them to naturalism. We, as creationists, believe that the same evidence leads only to design - to creation.
So, saying "science vs. creation" is a total misnomer. That is an abuse of the word "science". It would be much more accurate to say "evolution vs. creation", or "data interpreted to support evolution vs. creation".
Because of their distaste or fear of the implications of creation, many evolutionists must try to separate the issues. In reality, there is no conflict between what is actually observed (scientifically) and what the Bible teaches about
it.
We have a curriculum that's designed to help students understand not only this issue, but other topics found in the early chapters of Genesis. If you'd like to see it, click HERE.
