What are these? They look like.... like body parts!
Actually, they look like that
becase that's what they are. They began to appear on the tarred walkways around our development. Nobody knew what they were, but I had my suspicions. So, I began to look into what was going on.
Our development used to be a farm, and so the cats that used to be part of that operation are now feral cats living on their own here and there in the
woods all around where we live. They survive on their own, hunting for whatever they can catch. Carrie even saw one eating a snake that it had caught right along the trail. We keep them away from our house simply because they're attracted to our bird feeders!
Anyway, I wanted to find out if the cats were involved with these body parts. It
didn't take much to identify these parts mainly as mouse stomachs, left on the trails where they were eaten! But, why are the stomachs left there? Why didn't the cats eat that part, too? They apparently ate everything else --- the bones, the fur, the feet, the tail (we never see those parts)... but not the stomachs! Why?
