Hi ,
Darwin believed geologists like Charles Lyell and others when they claimed vast ages for the earth's history. Today, standard geology includes beliefs, not only about the earth's history, but the future as well. And, based on their theories, they make certain predictions.
One of those predictions includes issues related to earthquakes. A post on the USGS (US Geological Survey) web site included a question related to earthquake severity. The question is: Can mega quakes actually happen - like a magnitude 10, or higher?
Here is their answer, directly from their site: "No, earthquakes of magnitude 10 or larger cannot happen. The magnitude of an earthquake is related to the length of the fault on which it occurs. That is, the longer the fault, the larger the earthquake. A fault is a break in the rocks that make up the Earth's crust, along which rocks on either side have moved past each other. No fault long enough to generate a
magnitude 10 earthquake is known to exist, and if it did, it would extend around most of the planet."
Interesting. Let me give you another quote: "Then there came flashes of lightning, rumblings, peals of thunder and a severe earthquake. No earthquake like it has ever occurred since mankind has been on earth, so tremendous was the quake.....and the cities of the nations collapsed..... Every island fled away and the mountains could not be
found." (Revelation 16:18-21)
The people of Noah's day didn't believe that there was going to be a world-wide flood. If they had, they would have been on the ark! People today, as is evident above, don't believe that there could ever be a magnitude 10, or higher, earthquake.
Evidence for the catastrophic world-wide flood is everywhere! So, whose word do you think I'm going to trust on the earthquake issue? God's? Or man's?
And, for people who still think that the flood of Noah's time was just a local flood, then I suppose this prophesied world-wide earthquake is also going to be just a local, "world-wide" earthquake!
Let's wake up! God provided the way of escape the first time. He has already provided the way of escape from this next catastrophe - through faith in the death and resurrection of His son, Jesus Christ!
