The Government Knows Best!

If the Antichrist of the end times is alive today, and if he's already old enough to know his place and purpose in history, I think he's smiling. If he's read the Bible, he might have had a hard time imagining that so many people would follow him blindly. If he's alive, his confidence is growing...

Our government is made up of people. People who have emotions, sins, opinions, hurts, perspectives, etc. They are you and me, but have been voted to represent us. If enough of those people have common emotions, sins, opinions, hurts, perspectives, etc., they will make decisions that represent their collective view. Sometimes they're right, but often, very wrong.

Consider abortion. In the name of "womens health" and other dubious terms, our government has decided that it's OK to kill babies. This helps people "plan families". It's the government's solution.

Or, consider evolution. Following the science "experts", our government has decided that it's wrong to teach creation ~ God did not create life. It evolved. This makes it MUCH easier to help people live exactly the way they choose to live. There are no moral standards, so nobody can be judged (except if you believe that there are moral standards). It's the government's solution.

The list goes on (global warming, critical race theory, etc.). But, consider now the Covid vaccine. Our government was absolutely desperate to find a solution to a horrific virus that was ravaging the world. And rightly so! It was an honorable and responsible thing to do. And, once a vaccine was formulated, it was made available as soon as it was possible to produce it. And, it's free! And widely available! How cool is that!?

But then, as in many other matters, it became the "government's solution". What started as a good thing, at least in concept, became an issue of basic freedom. If someone wants to be vaccinated and believes that it's safe, how great that it's available, and free! But, if someone, for whatever reason, decides that they don't want it, it has always been the right of Americans to be free to choose. After all, people choose to get the flu vaccine, or not.

This freedom to choose has now become, for whatever reason (and under various guises), a threat to the government's "solution". Those in power have decided to draw their line in the sand here ~ over a vaccine!

This has now ceased to be about Covid any more. This has become a political issue about who will obey a "mandate"; who will obey the command to conform. People who don't are losing their jobs and their businesses. They are often threatened and vilified.

Additionally, it would seem logical and responsible that the government would, of course, permit and encourage the use of any other medication that seems to be working, as they are in many other nations. But, our government isn't! Why? What is behind the government's panic about allowing anything other than "its solution"?

I watch this in amazement. How could something that was "good", just a year ago, become so rapidly politicized, divisive, threatening, dark?

It shouldn't be all that surprising to me, though. This is actually nothing new. The devil was present at the beginning, corrupting what God intended to be good. God gave the Hebrews His law, intending it for good. Man corrupted and abused it, the pharisees using it for their own gain. God invented government, intending it for good. Man has so aften corrupted this and abused it for his own power.

So, perhaps, if he's alive, the Antichrist is watching. He might be very pleased to see just how easy it actually is to make people obey; how easy it will be to make them take his mark. After all, he will come to power in a world in utter panic - ready for him.
